VSBarcodeReader is Now on GitHub: No Gatekeeping, Just Code
If you’ve ever tried to integrate a professional barcode SDK, you know the drill. You find a promising library, but instead of a “Download” button, you get a “Talk to Sales” form. Then comes the follow-up email, the discovery call, and finally, a quote that depends on how much they think you can pay.
We’re not fans of that process. To make things easier for developers, we’ve put the VSBarcodeReader evaluation SDK on GitHub.
No forms, no waiting, and no sales pitches. You can just clone the repo and see if it works for your project.
We Published the Pricing (Apparently, That’s Taboo)
In the enterprise software world, price transparency is often treated like a secret. The goal is usually to hide the cost until a salesperson can get you on the phone.
We’ve decided to skip that. Our pricing is publicly listed. It’s the same price for everyone, subject to our standard license agreement, whether you’re an indie outfit or part of a massive team. No negotiations, no “special rates,” and no surprises.
One Version. No Tiers.
We’ve also done away with the “Standard,” “Pro,” and “Enterprise” tiers. There are no locked features or separate add-ons for different barcode types.
When you get VSBarcodeReader, you get the whole thing. One full-featured version that handles everything we’ve got, across all supported platforms (iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, and WebAssembly). If we built it, it’s in there.
Coming Soon: Plugins and Starter Apps
While the core SDK is available now, we’re about to make integration even faster. We are currently preparing to publish the source code for our cross-platform plugins.
If you’re working with MAUI, Flutter, Ionic/Capacitor, or React Native, you’ll soon be able to grab the source for these wrappers directly. Alongside the plugins, we’re releasing fully functional starter apps. The goal is to give you a “ready-to-run” foundation so you can see the reader working in a real-world context immediately, rather than building a test environment from scratch.
What Makes it Different?
Beyond the lack of sales hurdles, the SDK is built to solve the annoying parts of barcode scanning. Most readers work fine in perfect light with a steady hand. Ours is designed for the “not-so-perfect” moments:
- Low Light & Blurry Images: It’s tuned to grab data from frames that other readers would discard.
- Speed: It’s a lean, highly optimized engine. It doesn’t need much “thinking” time to find a code.
- Omnidirectional: It doesn’t matter how the user holds the device; if the barcode is in the frame, it scans.
- Matrix scan: Scan many barcodes in one go with visual feedback.
- Small Footprint: We keep the library small so it doesn’t bloat your application.
Give it a Spin
If you’re tired of the usual software procurement dance, just head over to our GitHub and try the evaluation SDK. If it does what you need, you know exactly where to find the license and how much it costs. If it’s not the right fit, you haven’t lost any time on a sales call.
